Trading Online
Date: Tuesday 2 December 2008 Location: Many creative businesses now have their own website and are exploring the potential of e-commerce. What should you be aware of when conducting business online? Booking: Nollywood - Great Films, Big Business but no Rights?
Date: Wednesday 3 December 2008 Location: Nollywood is a great success story. Digital technology has enabled inventive film makers and producers to create a very strong film industry in Nigeria that tells the stories of African everyday life and concerns. The films are popular at home and with the wide African diaspora and reach their viewers via the internet. The result is a multi-million dollar industry that can rival Hollywood or Bollywood in terms of popularity and output. But whilst digital technology has enabled film makers to thrive, the industry is losing big money through widespread piracy. Our panel of African film makers, a producer and a legal expert will discuss what Nigerian legislation can do to protect the industry and how film makers can exploit their IP through smart rights management including licensing.
