What do I need to know about IP when creating a website?

Published 28.11.11 at 13:13

Whether you are trading online or looking to create awareness of your work a professional looking website will create a lasting impression with your target audience. However, there are a number of things that you need to be aware of when creating a website. For example, if you commission a web designer then you need to be certain as to who owns the copyright in the website. Copyright subsists in both the 'front end' and the 'back end' of a website and so you need to understand what both of these are. This may sound a little confusing but never fear, as this article explains all. It also refers you to the template contracts available on the Own-it website that will set out your agreement with a web designer in writing (always a good idea!).
