Own-It 7-8pm (To book this event use the 'book now' link above)
If you're an industrial, furniture or product designer, you might be worried that talking to manufacturers, buyers and clients may result in you giving away your valuable ideas for free. This practical workshop will explain how to protect your work, covering key issues such as confidentiality agreements, licensing, assigning, royalties, ownership and exclusivity. It will also give a clear guide to contracts between maker and client/manufacturer. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
Our expert speaker for this event is Naazneen Schmittzehe of IP law firm Briffa http://www.briffa.com) and is dually qualified in the UK and Hong Kong. Naazneen has a strong IP background and has over five years post qualification experience in non contentious and contentious IP. She has managed and advised major corporations such as APPLE, MARS and COKE on their trade mark portfolios, working closely with in-house lawyers and corporate departments to enhance and protect well known brands. Naazneen has acted for a number of well known designers for both fashion and furniture. She has a good understanding of far-eastern markets and extensive practical experience of international Intellectual Property.
